How To Progress Your Plyos Properly!
Everyone loves some plyos! They’re great for getting faster and increasing explosiveness! Only problem is they are usually progressed way to quickly by jumping right in the fancy stuff. It’s important to slow it down and build the base first! Create a strong foundation by focusing on proper form and landing mechanics. Speed and explosiveness comes from efficient weight transfer not just attempting to move faster! Let’s jump in and break it down a little bit more in depth!
Pogos
- Quick explosive movement
- Reduce ground contact time
- Increase fast twitch muscle fibers
Boxes
- Master movement efficiency
- Improve landing and take off mechanics
- Keep the landings light
Speed
- Once movements mastered you can increase speed
- Helps maximize speed production
- Quick feet and explosiveness
Weights and Multi-Movements
- Increase power production with weighted movements
- Improve weight transfer with added weight
- Multi-plane movements improve spatial awareness
- Increase speed of movement in all directions
These plyo progressions will get you some serious speed and explosiveness! Although they look quick and simple, many of these movements can be complicated and require some strength and movement prerequisites.
If you’re having trouble with any of the movements or something doesn’t feel right don’t hesitate to reach out and ask a question! I’m just an email away! rjost@trainingaspects.com
