Chasing A Dream: TA Boxing Studio

A Lifelong Dream Awakened

After many years on the railroad, I decided last year to part ways and pursue something I had always dreamed of. Growing up, the most memorable moments for me as an athlete were the days and nights spent in the gym with my dad and grandfather. The boxing gym was a place where I could train, unwind, and leave any troubles behind. From a young age, I knew that one day, I wanted to have my very own boxing gym—a space where I could give others that same feeling of release and fulfillment.

Losing Sight of the Vision

Years ago, while in college, I was assigned to write a paper on “My Dream Job,” and I wrote about opening a boxing gym. But somewhere along the way, between then and last year, I lost sight of that vision. I was excelling in light rail transit, climbing the ladder, but despite my success, I felt unfulfilled. The environment I was in didn’t provide the fulfillment I needed to unleash my full potential and instead my focus became fixated on silencing those who doubted me or tried to hold me back in the rail industry. I became obsessed with proving them wrong. But that wasn’t fulfilling—it was draining. I realized I was pouring my energy into something I wasn’t passionate about. It became clear that I needed to redirect that energy toward my dream.

Reconnecting with Passion

Just before I decided to leave the rail industry, I reconnected with my first sparring partner after 18 years. He invited me for a workout, and it was like no time had passed. We picked up right where we left off as kids. After a year of training with Training Aspects, both my body and mindset transformed completely, and my circle of influence shifted dramatically. Surrounding myself with like-minded people has been a breath of fresh air, and the members and team here are phenomenal! This past year has been filled with infectious, positive energy that propelled me through an unfamiliar journey. And as a result, in January 2024, TA Boxing was born!

Navigating the Unknown

As a husband, father, and head of the household, it has been frightening at times to leave behind what was financially stable to pursue a path filled with unknowns. But just like in boxing, you don’t know what challenges or adversity you’ll face until you’re in the thick of it! This ride has been thrilling, with many highs and lows, and it’s one I’ll never forget or take for granted. I’ve learned that surrounding yourself with the right people matters more than anything. Your circle must align with your dreams! Training Aspects has provided me with the tools and support I need to thrive as I chase my dream. There’s still so much work ahead for both myself and TA Boxing, but no matter how daunting it seems, I’m committed to pushing past all fear.
