Top 5 Elite Kettlebell Exercises for Hockey Training

Kettlebells can be very advanced movements especially some of the exercises we’ll break down in todays article. But once you master your weight transfer and ability to use the weight as an extension of your body your hockey potential can truly be unleashed!

KB Skater Clean

This is one of our go to exercises to help improve lateral weight transfer, hip shift and side to side explosiveness for our hockey athletes.  

Hockey Application: Get shiftier hips, get in and out the corners faster, avoid hits easier and deliver harder hits.

KB Snatch Rotation Opener

Excellent exercise to help improve rotational weight transfer, increase shoulder stability and strength, as well as open up torso and thoracic rotation.  

Hockey Application: Increase shoulder strength and mobility to take hits, Improve rotation and power on your shot, increase change of direction speed and explosiveness.

KB Biad

Top hockey exercise to maximize explosiveness, rotational weight transfer, and core stability.  

Hockey Application: Increase first step explosiveness, take hits and deliver hits through improved core stability, better spatial awareness on the ice.

KB Ferris Wheels

Very advanced exercise but great for rotational weight transfer, core and feet stability, as well as shoulder mobility and strength.  

Hockey Application: Become stronger on your skate and improve shiftiness on the ice.

KB Step Swing

Great exercise to improve weight transfer, foot speed and core stability.  

Hockey Application: Increase foot speed, first step weight transfer and core stability on the ice.

 

Remember these movements can be very advanced and require a lot of prior kettlebell training to truly master.
