Brief history
My passion for training began at a young age. Until the age of 8, I was fragile, in and out of hospitals, and on various medications for asthma. Deciding to make a change, my parents signed me up for Ice Hockey. As a supplement to rigorous on ice training, my coach prescribed a training regiment consisting of various body weight exercises in order to improve my physical capabilities. The results were amazing. Before long I was playing top tier youth hockey with the Jr. Flyers as well as prestigious tournament select teams including the “Pee-wee” Tournament in Quebec in front of 20,000 fans. I was soon able to discontinue most of my medication and to control my asthma mainly through my exercise regimen. I played Ice Hockey up and down the East coast as well as Canada year round until the age of 19. During this time my teammates and opponents included various NHL (National Hockey League) draftees and current players such as Bobby Ryan, Colby Cohen, and Bobby Sanguinetti. However, besides for competing I spent a lot of time training myself, helping my teammates train, and helping coaches run clinics for younger players. I spent increasingly more time dreaming up new and elaborate ways to improve physical fitness and athletic performance. While I loved Ice Hockey, I began to realize that I had a true passion for training, physical conditioning, and helping individuals reach their goals.
Training Philosophy Acknowledgments:
I was very lucky to be coached and trained by some of the top coaches and trainers in the industry. Throughout my Ice Hockey career I was coached and trained by Mark Vershinin, the industry’s finest youth development hockey coach. To help me become more confident and effective I began boxing. I was lucky to learn from the unique and innovative training style of my boxing trainer Tom Kennedy, changing my perspective on training altogether. Our workout regimen included different sparring formats, various bag training techniques, as well as several unique strength and conditioning methods. To this day, their influence is an integral part of the Training Aspects program.
Training Philosophy Origins:
When I entered the world of training, I quickly realized that the main obstacle to individual achievement was the desire for a “Magic Pill”. Everyone wants results right way and with as little effort as possible. This is the genesis of the Training Aspects’ credo “an extreme change lasts a month; a lifestyle change lasts a life time”. I realized the importance of understanding individual psychology to achieving goals. During my time at Rutgers University in pursuit of my degree in Psychology, I concentrated on course work dealing with teaching and motivation. Yelling at someone who has never trained or been active before isn’t always the most productive way of getting a positive response.
Training/Diet goal and Philosophy:
My goal is to get you to move, look, and feel as you’ve always desired by making realistic lifestyle changes. The focus of training is too often on the physical and not often enough on the health aspect. My philosophy is that training with health and fitness as the primary goal will achieve the individual’s desired physical and aesthetic results! Training sessions consist of unique and innovative exercises. The training regimen is challenging, however, I am confident the results will also exceed expectations. My evidence is in the people who have committed to the Training Aspects way.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you make a change of a life time!
